DESCRIPTION:Sail Training Ireland for Youth Development are thrilled announce that we are now taking applications for on our “Sea Change for All” voyages taking place in late September and early October this year. \n\n\n\n\nThese voyages places are exclusively for young people aged between 14 – 30 who have a disability of some kind and their buddies (carers) if required.  Unfortunately due to the limitations of The Pelican of London\, we are unable to take wheelchair users on this occasion. \nThis opportunity sees the participants become part of the working crew as trainees on the Tall Ship Pelican of London on a weeklong voyage at sea. Potential participants should be aware that this will be a challenging but fun adventure. The itinerary of the trips are weather dependent but will include a visit to the UK or Isle of Man. \nSail Training Ireland are able to make this opportunity available as a result of us being one of the awardees of the Disability Participation and Awareness Fund 3.0! A big thank you to Rethink Ireland and the Department of Children\, Disability and Equality. \nInclusion and providing the sail training opportunity to young people of all abilities has always been a key pillar of what we do in Sail Training Ireland. We always aim to have at least 10% of places available for those with a disability. This figure was 30% and 19% in the last two years. We have done this without any specific funding for our disability work. SUMMARY:Voyage Plans and Itineraries for 2026
DESCRIPTION:Pelican will sail in the Mediterranean in February before heading back up the coasts of Spain and Portugal in March to cross Biscay and arriving in Dartmouth Harbour on March 18th. She will then sail to Sharpness Shipyard for her Bi-annual dry dock and maintenance. \nIn May\, Pelican will head into the Irish sea once more and arrive in Liverpool on June 20th for a voyage to Oban with North Liverpool Academy. \nWhilst in Oban we will deliver the annual summer voyages with Gordenstoun International Summer School (GISS) before heading to Barrow in August for their sea festival. \nOn August 11th Pelican will once more head south via Dartmouth down the coasts of Spain and Portugal\, arriving in Tangier on September 15th. \nShe will deliver the exciting environmental expedition Mare Nostrum in the Mediterranean ending in Monaco on 28th October. \nPelican will head further into the Mediterranean to Malta and Cyprus before heading back to Gibraltar in December. \nPlanned ports: \n\n\n\n\n\nFebruary: Cartagena and Tangier\nMarch: Tangier\, Setubal\, Vigo\, Dartmouth\, Sharpness\nApril: Sharpness\nMay: Dartmouth\, Dun Laoghaire\, Barrow in Furness\, Isle of Man\, Scottish Isles\nJune: Isle of Man\, Dun Laoghaire\, Liverpool (June 20th)\, Oban (July 1st)\nJuly: Oban and islands (1-31st July)\nAugust: Barrow in Furness (8-11th August)\, Isle of Man\, Dun Laoghaire\, Dartmouth\nSeptember: Brest\, Vigo\, Setubal\, Gibraltar\, Tangier (15-19th September)\, Cartagena\, Valencia\nOctober: Tunis\, Palermo\, Nice\, Monaco\nNovember: Monaco\, Valletta\, Limassol\nDecember: Toulon\, Gibraltar\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you want to be part of this exciting schedule as one of our lovely volunteers\, please head to the Volunteer page on our website and fill in our Volunteer Application Form (sailing/maintenance) or to our Scientist Application Form (Scientists in Residence).
